PRESS RELEASE: Pojoaque Pueblo Endorses Gary King for Governor Unanimously

(Albuquerque, NM) — Democratic candidate for Governor Gary King today announced that he has received the endorsement of Pojoaque Pueblo to be the next Governor of New Mexico.  At a Friday morning meeting of the tribal government, the Pojoaque Tribal Council voted unanimously to endorse King, the state’s current Attorney General.   After a substantive discussion about the importance of the direction the next Governor will lead the State in the next four years, the Council, representing the families of more than 1,200 tribal members, threw its support and pledged its political education and mobilization resources to Gary King.

“Today more than ever, we need a Governor of New Mexico who understands how to create good jobs in this tough economic environment, and especially in rural New Mexico.  Gary King will be that Governor,” said George Rivera, Pojoaque Pueblo Governor. “Throughout his career as a legislator and as Attorney General, Gary King has demonstrated genuine respect for the people of Indian country.  He always stands with the working families of rural New Mexico who face unique challenges in difficult times.  This election for Governor is important, and we are excited that Gary King wants to improve opportunity and strengthen communities in rural New Mexico.”

Gary King accepted the endorsement with pride and gratitude.  “It is a great honor to receive this key support from the families of Pojoaque Pueblo.  I look forward to working to improve the economic opportunities for rural New Mexico as Governor, and to make our State better.”
