PRESS RELEASE: UNITED FOOD AND COMMERCIAL WORKERS ENDORSE KING

August 13, 2013

Albuquerque – United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) local 1564 endorsed Democratic gubernatorial candidate, Attorney General Gary King this week in recognition of King standing with working families.

UFCW local president Greg Frazier said, “Gary King has put working families first his entire professional career from state representative to attorney general.  We are proud to offer him our support.”

The King for Governor campaign is in discussions with a great many New Mexico and national labor unions and expects to rollout additional endorsements.

“I’m pleased to have the trust and support of the UFCW,” King said.  “It’s working men and women and their families that make New Mexico the great place it is.  Our families have often been forgotten and overlooked by the governor and her people in their quest for big campaign contributions.  As governor I’ll put the needs of our families ahead of the demands of big-time political contributors who have had too large a voice in our state for too long,” King continued.

Gary King is currently the New Mexico Attorney General. He is also a businessman, attorney, scientist, and former legislator.  Since 1987, he has been married to Yolanda Jones King, also a scientist and community leader.  Gary grew up with his ranching family in Stanley, New Mexico.

Dr. King attended New Mexico State University and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry.  He received his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Colorado University at Boulder.  He then attended law school at the University of New Mexico, where he received his J.D.
